Sea to Sea for Charity.
“Hello, wonderful people! This spring, join me, as I combine my love for making and exploring into adventure across the width of Scotland. Supporting 'A Leg To Stand On', we aim to bring mobility to children in developing countries with limb disabilities, turning their dreams of moving into reality.” - Ben Kilner
The Canoe
Crafted by me using traditional skin-on-frame techniques, the amphibious canoe is designed for both water and land travel. Featuring an innovative 'Pedal Paddle' system, it transitions seamlessly from paddling on water to cycling with bike wheels for land travel. What could possibly go wrong :)?
The Journey
Starting at the Atlantic Ocean and paddling the Caledonian Canal (including the mysterious Loch Ness) through to the North Sea. Upon reaching the North Sea, I’ll reverse the route, cycling back on land to the starting point to complete an epic "Sea to Sea" loop. The 150-mile journey is not just a test of resourcefulness and endurance but a passage through some of Scotland's most legendary waters and the lands of my ancestors.
Why 'A Leg To Stand On'
Mobility is a gift - often not fully appreciated until lost. For children with limb disabilities in developing countries, basic mobility remains a distant dream. 'A Leg to Stand On' works tirelessly to provide these children with prosthetics and mobility devices, allowing them to keep up with their peers and giving them the potential for future adventures of their own.
