19 year old Estera lives with Cerebral Palsy (CP), a disability affecting 17 million people worldwide. For those living with CP, mobility aids, like wheelchairs, are essential for daily use, yet a staggering 64 million people living in LMICs lack access to proper care.

For years, Estera used an ill-fitted wheelchair that was detrimental to her comfort and long-term health. Customized wheelchairs remain one of the most difficult items to source items in emerging countries. There is often a mismatch between the products available at local wheelchair provision centers and the needs of users.

Thanks to your support, we provided Estera with her first appropriately fitted wheelchair — a Cub wheelchair; a thoughtfully designed, lightweight, durable and adjustable chair that can fold up to fit in a car.

An appropriately fitted wheelchair helps Estera live with minimal pain and discomfort typically caused by ill-fitted chairs, breathe and eat easier, and interact more with her community and environment.

Plus, for those who spend a minimum of 10-12 hours per day in their chair, an appropriately fitting wheelchair is essential to avoiding secondary health complications, such as muscular rigidity and pressure sores, and the pain and discomfort that is caused by ill-fitted chairs.

Now, Estera is more comfortable than ever and able to spend more time outdoors doing what she loves most, enjoying the sunshine. On behalf of Estera and her family, thank you.
